The level of play gets better every year and we hope that we see everyone back next year for another great time.
Blizzard Teams Capture Bronze at the Blizzard Invitational
Both London Blizzard teams had a great tournament and fought hard to gain bronze in their respective divisions. The juniors battled to bronze winning a tough contest against the Mid-American Eagles 1-0. The Intermediates had their hands full in the bronze medal final with the Durham Steelhawks but eventually prevailed with a 2-1 win.
Congratulations to everyone on their excellent play this weekend!

OSHA Leads Russian Sledge Hockey Development
From November 3 to 10, 2009, OSHA played host to four travelers from Russia here to study sledge hockey in Canada. This follows a project started this past summer when Todd Sargeant and Sigmund Bernat of the London Blizzard Sledge Hockey team travelled overseas to introduce sledge hockey to Russia. The project was conducted through the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO), a volunteer-based group that is funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.

Intermediates Capture Bronze At Cruiser Cup
The Blizzard beat Hamilton and Mississauga and fought to a 0-0 tie against North Bay in the round robin portion of the tournament in Brampton. That put us in the quarter finals where Chris Wood posted a shutout in a 5-0 win over Pittsburgh. In the semi-finals the Blizzard lost a good game to Buffalo 5-2. In the Bronze medal game, Wood shutout Sudbury and Cam Sinclair scored with 32 seconds left in the overtime period for a 1-0 victory where the Blizzard were very dominant.

Cam Sinclair and Jim Law led the goal scoring with 5 each during the tournament while Mark Bernat scored 3 and Jason Houlihan and Randy Brown had singles. Eight players had assists showing how all players are contributing.

The Intermediates are playing well in the early season with excellent teamplay and strong goaltending the biggest reasons for that. The coaches are looking for more development of team systems as the season moves closer to the Blizzard Invitational Sledge Tournament in January.

Info - Travel to U.S.A.
Just as a reminder to all clubs for the coming season that all travel to the U.S.A. will require a passport. This has been in the pipeline for a while now and is finally coming into effect. Make sure all the players on your team have a valid passport for future trips into the U.S.A. so that no one is turned away at the border.
