Code of Conduct

Volunteer

Volunteers are the foundation of the London Blizzard Sledge Hockey Club. Their time, dedication, and support help create opportunities for athletes to participate in para ice hockey and ensure the success of our programs, events, and tournaments.


The London Blizzard is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all athletes, families, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES

As a volunteer with the London Blizzard Sledge Hockey Club, I agree to:

  1. Represent the Club in a positive and professional manner.

  2. Treat all participants, athletes, families, coaches, officials, and fellow volunteers with dignity and respect.

  3. Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone.

  4. Follow all Club policies, procedures, and Safe Sport requirements.

  5. Respect the privacy and confidentiality of athletes and families.

  6. Support fair play, sportsmanship, and positive behaviour both on and off the ice.

  7. Respect all Club equipment, facilities, and property.

  8. Communicate concerns or incidents through appropriate Club channels.

  9. Conduct myself in a manner that reflects positively on the London Blizzard and the para sport community.

  10. Support the Club’s mission of removing barriers and creating opportunities through sport.

SAFE SPORT & ATHLETE PROTECTION

Volunteers agree to:

• Follow Safe Sport principles and expectations.

• Maintain appropriate boundaries with athletes.

• Report any concerns involving athlete safety, harassment, abuse, bullying, discrimination, or misconduct.

• Support the Rule of Two whenever reasonably possible.

• Help create an environment where all participants feel respected, valued, and safe.

EVENTS, TOURNAMENTS & TRAVEL

Volunteers participating in practices, games, tournaments, fundraising events, or travel activities agree to:

• Follow all arena, facility, and event rules.

• Respect hotel and accommodation policies.

• Support athletes, families, and staff in a positive manner.

• Conduct themselves professionally while representing the London Blizzard.

• Assist in creating a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT

The following behaviours will not be tolerated:

• Bullying, harassment, or discrimination

• Physical, verbal, or emotional abuse

• Threatening or intimidating behaviour

• Retaliation against individuals who report concerns

• Illegal activity

• Misuse of Club funds, equipment, or resources

• Damage to Club, arena, hotel, or tournament property

• Any conduct that brings the London Blizzard into disrepute

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action including:

• Verbal warning

• Written warning

• Removal from an event or activity

• Suspension of volunteer duties

• Removal from future volunteer opportunities

• Removal from the London Blizzard Sledge Hockey Club

Disciplinary action will be determined by the Board of Directors based on the circumstances and severity of the incident.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I have read and understand the London Blizzard Volunteer Agreement & Code of Conduct and agree to uphold these standards while participating in Club activities.
